Meet MIDPOINT -- the new get-down that will jump-start your Wednesday. A new mid-week concept inviting one of the globe's most inspiring and respected talents to our paradise city, elevating the game with immaculate L-Acoustic sound, and transmuting the mundane into the unforgettable. Brought to you by WSD Community, Sonic!, and Secret Guests Asia, MIDPOINT invites internationally beloved artist YOUANDEWAN to Vietnam for his very first time!
Scottish DJ and Small Hours curator, Youandewan, has quietly but consistently forged his own idiosyncratic brand of house and minimal over the last two decades. His deeply introspective debut LP caught the attention of Pitchfork in 2016, and since then, the producer has released a batch of timeless club grooves on his other, more stylized imprints, The Brane and Pure Shores.
DJ sets at clubbing institutions worldwide (Dimensions Festival, VBX, Fabric, Tresor, Boiler Room, to name just a few) have showcased Ewan's maturation into a skilled and versatile selector, with a record bag that captures the best bits of vintage UK tech house and entrancing, acid-laced cruisers from the deeper strains of golden-era electronica. Joining Youandewan will be one of Asia's veteran selectors, DONN (Bassis Asia) for his own Da Nang debut. For DONN, the world of dance music isn't a small one, but a veritable universe of cosmic sounds and styles entirely ripe for the picking. As a self-made experiential evangelist, this tastemaker is best known for sets that push the dance envelope far beyond the norm. Instigator behind Singapore’s underground music movement, and out-spoken activist of unconventional creations, DONN’S timeless flair rates him as one of the regions’ most versatile DJs.
Support from local heroes Sancho, Kaze, Patrick S, Le, and Bytz rounds out the two-floor special event, which will extend well into morning.
